Man, I've been very slowly watching The Killing season 2, and I forgot how ... twist-y it gets!! I like it when they throw surprises at me! Also, I think they're trying to slowly work in the former cast of BSG to guest appear on this show. So far, we're at Leoben and Helo XDXDXDXD (The number of Vancouverites in it are obscene, which makes sense considering it's being shot in Vancouver LOL)
FYI, this will be a TV-talk post so please skip if bored LOL
The Newsroom is probably one of my new favourites at the moment. The banter, OMFG, how I love, LOVE, *LOVE* the banter in it. I've never watched West Wing so I didn't really get a chance to see Aaron Sorkin's writing in action (though I suppose that was kinda found in The Social Network). It is snarky, and witty, and just hilarious in general. I apparently also like stories with all sorts of dysfunctional people in it LOL
Just started watching Sinbad last night, and I gotta say... um... it's almost Sy-Fy worthy (aka cringeworthy) CG. It's terrible. Soooo terrible. And I mean, at least there's props for having a minimal Caucasian cast, but I'm not really digging the look of the lead actor. I'm not saying he's a bad actor... just that... well, he seems a bit too... punkass?? to play the role? The grandmother also seems... mean??? and Sayid Naveen Andrew's character seems hellbent on chasing him to the ends of the world? With good reason, but I mean, really, if you were THAT angry, I see no reason why the rest of Sinbad's family would be left alive... long enough to do that one mean thing to him anyway. I'll give it another episode, but I think this one's a throwaway!
TV-Land had a great hit with Hot in Cleveland. Sadly, they failed to reproduce that with The Exes. I don't know why my boyfriend and I aren't dumping that on our watch list, but it's honestly HORRIBLE. Donald Faison (aka Turk from Scrubs) is left delivering really lameass lines about how he's the player. Wayne Knight (aka Newman from Seinfeld) is just... man, it's sad to see him in this role. The other guy, I don't even care about because I don't think comedy's his forte, and the lines are just awful. The worst of them all is whoever the hell decided to cast Kristen Johnston. Her comedic talents were incredibly suited for Third Rock from the Sun (where it should've remained and buried) and she thought she did so well that she decided to reuse the same overdramatic gestures and facial expressions. Listen, it was funny when you're an alien. It's just a bit disgraceful when you're a woman in your 40s and supposedly a divorce attorney. Dial it back a little. You already tower over these men. No need to slouch (drives me nuts when tall women do this) and overact to somehow make yourself larger than life (cos' you already are). I don't mean to be mean (maybe I am) but really, it's just too much. The sole saving grace is probably that Kelly Stables, who plays Eden on the show. There's not enough of her. She should probably have her own spinoff show since the writers apparently saved up all their funny lines just for her. The rest are not even groan-worthy. They don't even merit a response.
On that mean note, I'm going to go bake some cinnamon buns now LOL
