REQUESTING THE ATTENTION AND HELP OF ANY AVID FANFIC AND/OR GAY-LIT READERS.
Seniors who take Post-Modern English their Senior Year have to devise their own curriculum for the third-trimester. Part of my curriculum is the study of Fanfiction and so I've been doing a couple interviews with avid readers about many aspects of it. I've made this questionarre up so that anyone who would be generous enough to lend me a hand could give their two cents.
None of your information will be given out whatsoever, and if you even wish to apply anonymously feel free to do so! Skip questions that you don't want to answer, but please give me as much detail or opinion as you want. The more, the better for me. Also, if you want to add more information, or just any random thoughts about fanfiction or gay-literature please feel free to do so.
I will respond to your answers, and I will admit now that I will play devil's advocate. Not because I disapprove of opinions, but I simply wish to be as analytical about this as possible and garner as much information. A big thank you to anyone who helps.
Also. If anyone has any suggestions for more questions, please tell me :)
1.When and how did you first get into fanfiction?
2. What kind of genre do you mostly read (not fandom) and why?
3. When you first heard of fanfiction, did you find the concept strange?
4. Why do you think it has become so mainstream? Such a huge part of the internet?
5. Why do you think most fanfiction is written by girls?
6. Going off that, a lot of it is undeniably porn, particularly porn with really strange kinks; yet in the 'real world' so to speak men are regarded as the more sex-obsessed. Why this divide?
7. Do you find fanfiction unhealthy? To give an example, there seem to be many girls out there who become obsessed with particular characters to the point they act it ways that make one believe they forget said characters are fictional. They write stories about other female characters getting brutally murdered or raped to 'get rid of competition'.
8. Do you think that fan media has helped or even encouraged the Sex Revolution which many people are beginning to think is happening again?.
9. Do you think fanfic has had an impact on society at all? If so, for better, or for worse? Why?
