So I’ve been back from Anime Ethanol Iowa for a few days now, and I’m recovered enough to finally post about it! Well, part of it, because it's already long and I'll save you guys the trouble of reading. The posts about Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will come starting tomorrow~ You do get a sneak preview with my picture banner over there -->
(Public post because I wanted Jamie to be able to see it xD)
Where to even start?
We actually took off close to the time we wanted to!! Jamie came to pick me up a little before 9am and I WAS READY! This is huge! I'm never ready when someone comes to get me!!!! We ran out quickly to Toys'R'Us hoping to get a toy gun, but they don't open until 10am, grrr. We had gone to Meijer the previous night to look, and while they had toy guns, they didn't have the kind I would need. We also tried Target Thursday morning, but they don't carry toy guns at all. Boo.
Got to Erin's, helped pack up the van so we could take off. Stopped at Wal-mart to grab a few items (like a gun xD; ). They had the same toy gun selection as Meijer, but I grabbed one that could possibly work with a lot of tinkering and hoped for the best.
And then we were off!!! It wasn't that long or hard of a drive, mostly driving through corn and construction. Jamie and I serenaded Erin and Vicky with our bad opera and played with Ralph, our AI mascot.
Everybody say hi to Ralph! I wanted to steal him so bad, isn't he cute? Arrived in Iowa (the hotel was AMAZING!!! Fancy TV in the room, and just really clean and fancy looking)and unpacked. We went to Hobby Lobby because Jamie can't leave work at home and Erin and I needed some stuff (like paint and glue for her staff, paint for my gun). Picked up food from Sonics, returned to the room, and busted out a little Sing Star (my rap rendition of Destiny's Child's Survivor is a CLASSIC, I tell you) and then got into costume (me as Sanzo, Jamie as Mel, and Erin as Xellos) to do an evening photoshoot. It's kind of funny, because we'd never really done photoshoots of our own costumes before. I mean, we've taken lots and lots and lots of pictures, but nothing really to this extent, so that was cool. I kept thinking to myself that even if the con sucks, at least we'll get some awesome pictures from it?
And then we headed inside to take a few pictures inside the hotel's library.
Got back to the room and the person that Erin was waiting to contact her for a possible meet-up had not called, so she and Vicky headed to the Forum Meet and Greet while Jamie and I hung out in the room, ate some ramen, and watched the Olympics.
