crazyness. posting twice in a a week.
i just have to say that the Park's managers are trying to completely destory the company and any working relationships they have with the people that work for them.
they fired the entire visual department. and it's not like they gave them a week or so. they showed up yesterday, got told to clean up thier spaces, and then leave. Virginia, Thom, Shannon--i'll miss you guys. to the poor shmucks in the mall visual, i didn't know you, but it sucks for you too.
maintenance is pissed as hell. Thom was integral to the log-ride rehab project--i.e. he was making new heads for the animatronics. thom was in the middle of painting a couple of murals. nobody else can do that. he hadn't yet designed the easter area for this year. halloween next year is going to be an ugly disaster, and thom will never come back. he will also tell all of his contacts about his experiances, and they will probably not work with the park. i'm hoping to see himon thursdays when he picks up his duaghter from pooka's class.
with virginia gone, we former snoopies have lost our mentor. there are no words. she didnt even get to say goodbye to most of us. i'm hoping to get her email address so i can keep in contact. she started our department, and she kept it going in fall 2001 when the mall was empty. she was our advocate and the person that could hire a group of actors and dancers and techies and make the group cohesive and non-dramatastic. when she was considering hiring anybody she asked any of us who met him/her "did you like him/her?" and that was as important as any qualifications.
we ae in trouble folks, we can't get costumes made. shannon was our contact with the woman who did the stilt costumes and the person with the authority to get them made. 2 and andrea can do some sewing, but not the kind of stuff we need. thom was the set designer and prop maker. we're actors without our shop techies. for you non-theater geeks, this spells doom. for you theater geeks, you can join me in shaking in fear.
since we can't get costumes, sets, or really anything that we need for performances, my dept is probably next.
and i can't seem to get up the ability to care any more.
