vanessasquest and she's letting me fill it for her: I was just watching Sex, Birth, Death... and I was wondering if there isn't any fanfic out there about the kid coming back later (you know after a couple years cultivated in a psych ward) if someone would be willing to write a piece about that and make it Hotch/Reid Reid-centric?
Chapter 6: Oh, you guys don't even to know why this took so long.
Summary: Reid - "What if next time he kills somebody?" Gideon - "Then you catch him."

Prentiss looked around Emma's room while Hotch spoke with her mother. The room seemed like that of a typical female college student. There were a couple of stuffed animals on her desk and shelves, books taking up most of the shelves themselves. Photos were scattered around the room. In frames, taped to the closet mirror, tacked to the walls. It was messy, something you could expect from someone who was working and going to school. Everything in the young woman's room screamed happy and normal. Even her clothes were normal. Nothing too revealing or covering. Perfect for bar tending at night and going to school in the day.
Prentiss picked one of them framed pictures from the desk. It was of Emma and a few of her girlfriends. It was clear they knew she worked at the bar from the picture. Hotch walked into the room with Emma's mother. The older woman sniffed softly, picking up a rather old looking bunny. "She got this from her father just before he died when she was ten. They were close. I thought she was never stop asking when he would come home." Prentiss stepped towards the other woman, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"Ma'am, I promise, we will find your daughter." Emma's mother thanked them and showed them out. Once they were off the porch, Hotch and Prentiss went over everything they had learned.
"Her mother says Emma hadn't mentioned anyone following her." Hotch spoke as they walked quickly back to the SUV.
"Well, that fits with Morgan's theory of him just following the girls home and taking them from there."
"Yeah, but Emma never made it home last night. And her boss said she left early for a test the next day."
"So he could have been stalking her and she just didn't notice it. Hate to say it but this guy is smart"
Hotch nodded in agreement. "What did you learn from her room?"
Prentiss sighed heavily. "She's just your average college student. Poor girl. Bet she never thought something like this would happen to her." Resting her head against the seat, Prentiss thought about the case while Hotch drove on back to the station. Hopefully Reid would have figured something, anything out, but her hopes weren't very high. They had no evidence, no witnesses, and a less than cooperative police force to help them. It was cases like this that had her wanting to work for Interpol again.
"Think Rossi and Morgan found who our Jane doe really is?" She glance over to Hotch, who seemed to have shrug his shoulders. Not very Hotch like. Then again he could have been stretching his neck out of discomfort.
"Maybe. If we're lucky, she'd have known the unsub." Prentiss nodded. They would need something like that to help them find Emma faster. In the back of her mind she knew shouldn't have promised her mother to find her. It provided false comfort, and only made not finding the victims that much harder on the families. She just couldn't help herself. The woman had lost her husband and was one the verge of losing her daughter as well. Someone had to comfort the poor woman. Even if it was an empty promise, Prentiss would do her best to keep it.

Okay, short chapter. I know. But I have a plan! The next will probably be short as well, just so you know. Hopefully the one after that will be much longer. And I have finally figured out how I'm going to end this all. *insert evil*
