1) when sending an e-mail, keep the subject professional. Do not randomly entitle it "your timing belt's done shrunk one size too small."
2) suppress the sarcasm. If it's regarding an issue such as Ops being unable to find a problem after three days of investigation, including the line "It only took me 10 seconds to find the issue" is not appropriate.
3) Don't be chatty. Including repro steps of "I used dsrdc03 (a personal favorite of mine, the many releases we've spent together)" and "without going through BladeLogic (because, frankly, I couldn't remember my password if my life depended on it)" ... not professional.
4) Do not include the exclamation "build a church and call me 'Jesus.'"
5) remember that the e-mail you send can very, very easily be forwarded on to, say, the person whose incompetence and inaction warranted the sarcasm in the first place.
