"Do you know what today is?"

Class: "Free Cone Day!"
Professor: "No. Today was the start of the Civil War. I'm going to pretend you did not just say that."

Me: "You ready for free ice cream?"
Ice Skating Instuctor: "Oh yeah, today is free cone day. You know there is probably going to a huge line."
Me: "Yeah, its ok. I'm skipping class"

Yes, today is that magical day when the Ben and Jerrys across the greater Burlington area give out unlimited cones filled with a scoop of ice cream. And even though the line was out the door, down the stairs, and stretching down the sidewalk; I stood in it - twice. Cherry Garcia first then Cookie Dough. I may go one more time if I decide to go lab this evening.

The track meet saturday was a great success. My parents came, they had never seen me throw hammer before. They drove 12 hours to hang out with me at a track meet all day. It was awsome of them to do that. It was nice seeing them again. One of my hammer throws almost hit them, I threw it was out of sector, perfectly through the gap of the net and cage and it landed in the dirt right in front of them. Luckily they were behind a fence. I could hear them heckling me as I ran to retrive the hammer. But my next throw was a PR! high 36m. Its only a PR of about a foot or so, but its a start! Discus was looking good too. First throw was 27m, the second was only a couple inches short of 30m so I didnt get an offical mark for it. boo. still a great day for the entire team really.

Monday morning I walked to class in the pouring rain in my awsome Reebok hightops my parents had brought out for me. I rubbed the skin right off my heels. I didnt even notice until I got to class and saw the blood dripping down my shoes. Luckily it rubbed high enough that I could still wear my running shoes to play tennis and not have them rub the same spot. I showed my tennis partner the bloody mess and she freaked at me a bit and mothered me the entire match, even stopping play so I could bandaids on (they didn't stick to my sweaty skin - so annoying)

Tennis was at 6 last night, which I think threw off my game. I have way to much energy; I was fired up the entire match. I was serving one game that went to deuce at least 10 times, it never seemed to end. it was going well, I had some super powerful and well placed serves but then I broke my string on one of them! It was so sad. I love my racket and not playing with it was like missing a piece of my soul. Luckily my partner had an extra racket so the game went on. It took me just a bit to get used to the different racket, but I still played well. Just not well enough, both my patner and I made some pretty silly mistakes, but we also have some awsome net play - I got to smash a couple. We lost, but it was a fight til the end. Chris forced me into her car to drive me home - a 7 minute walk away. haha.

I woke up this morning incredibly sore. My shoulder still has a sharp pain, my heels are raw, and for some reason my ankle hurt. The ankle only got worse during the sprints we did in track . So I went to the trainers to get it wrapped before skating cuz I wanted to practice my full flips comfortablely. Ice skating was a hot mess. I was falling all over the place. Every move made something hurt. Still I practiced my jumps, but for awhile I purposely sat on the ice then rolled on it because the cold felt so good on my aching body. Martha had us learning backwards three turns and I could only do the left footed ones because the move it similar to the beginnings of a hammer spin. After class I was talking about all my pains. I was surprised my heels hadnt started bleeding - neosporin really works well. But I commented to a friend how I discovered a blister b/w my toes last night and Martha says, "well I know some ice skaters who get corns b/w their toes" hahah werid. I love how we have such strange conversations after class now. But having a blister b/w my first two toes is awkward and weird.

I just woke up from a three hour nap. I feel a ton better, just very very grogy.
