Haylie'd finished with classes for the day and - regarding the coastal flood warning - grimly headed out to the gardens to meditate. Katelyn lived on Staten Island, and her parents were still in uptown Manhattan - two of the areas most affected by the incoming high tides - and she was worried. With good reason, she told herself.
Pushing past a few bushes, she wound her way back to a secluded patch of garden that was safely blocked off by trees and bushes. Dropping to her knees, Haylie reached out to brush her fingertips over the petals of a white Phaelenopsis Orchid and sighed. "They'll be okay, right?"
Talking to her flowers was standard fare. It beat talking to herself. "I think I may have made a mistake. Pushed someone away again. He's sweet, charming, cajun..." She smiled at that, her fingertips brushing over her lips as she recalled his kiss fondly. "But I think my rules pushed him away. I think it's a good policy to have -- not to have sex until a third date or until I know it's not going to be a fling. But part of me really wants to. I mean, it's been nearly a year since-- since Logan and I had our fling. It felt... really good. To be desired in spite of-- what I am." Haylie sighed, shoulders slumping in defeat. She really needed to stop thinking so much.
