My Innocence Has Been Ruined . . .
Now, I'm beginning to regret the fact that yesterday, being inspired by the School Of Rock movie, I decided to check out the fan-fiction section of it. Bad mistake, my innocence was ruined. How on earth am I supposed to think of School Of Rock the same way if I see people writing slash about Zack/Freddy, or even worse, Dewey/Freddy, Dewey, who was played by Jack Black, in his thirties, with Freddy, who is about ten? It was disgusting to say the least. Apparently, it was also found out that most of the stories on the site was about Freddy. Guess who is the most popular character in School of Rock then?
Oh yeah, Freddy's the drummer. My favourite character, who also happens to be everybody else's favourite character too. I just found out his name yesterday: Freddy Jones. What is it with made-up bands who have to have people who's surnames is "Jones"? Jughead Jones (I named my cat after him) of the Archies is another example. I have no idea whether he is the most popular character (though judging by my luck, he may be), but he's definitely mine personal favourite. I even named my cat after him! However, Freddy Jones was the most well-developed character in the movie, so he still remains my favourite.
To be fair, some of the stories were not bad. I particularly liked some of them, they were quite good. There was one story about Freddy protecting Katie (the bassist), and ending up on a wheelchair. There was one other story where the author wrote about him coming from an abusive family. The plot was good, though her writing was not substantial enough. There was a good story about the band as a whole struggling through fame, where Freddy, the supposed bad-boy of the group ended up getting into a stable marriage with Marta, the small back-up singer, while Zack, the good boy, ended up killing his girlfriend and himself because of his drinking problem. A little play on ironies there, very interesting indeed.
I might even start writing my own School Of Rock fan-fiction one of these days, but I have to finish my Fruits Basket and Vampire Knight ones first before I even think of a plot line. It'll probably star Freddy, since he is the character I most want to write about.
