I just got back from watching the filipino version
of Shakespeare's A Mid Summer Night's Dream, which we all are required
to watch for our Filipino classes. I've gotta say that they definitely
got the casting wrong with this one, since the girl who played Helena
was so far from how the character was depicted in the original text.
Helena is supposed to be one the hottest girls there, but in this
interpretation, she was, you know. Supposedly, Helena is prettier than
Hermia, except in the play we just watched, Hermia was probably the
prettiest of the four girls there. But all in all, the play was pretty
fun to watch, especially those weirdo stripper fairy dudes, who were
dancing like, as I said, strippers. Oberon and Titania were weird too,
the way they were acting.
The morning a while ago, during our homeroom period,
our teacher led us to what looked to be a conference room beside the
guidance center, where we would end up fixing our so called problems in
the class. Mrs. Dango started to explain what the goal of the period
was: to pour out our feelings and thoughts about the class. The
officers started, some of them hesitating, followed by a few
volunteers, until the session was actually running smoothly.
People started discussing all about what they
thought the problems where, which were namely: backstabbing, how no one
supports each other, pagtatapakan, and whatever. Honestly, I dont think
those are the problems our class is facing. I mean, who cares if David
left because he was always being teased? From the moment I first saw
him, I already disliked him, and forever did I backstab him. I dont
regret it. We are all entitled to our opinions, freedom of speech, and
if what we say hurts someone, then he just has to deal with it or
confront us directly. Nic, Vince, Jelo, Gio, and many others "defended"
David, in a sense, but defending him wont bring him back. He's gone.
Good riddance. The problem in our class isn't backstabbing.
Backstabbing, bringing someone down, is part of human nature. No one
can change that. The problem in our class isn't how no one supports
each other, since supporting each other would only affect around 0.01%
of our class unity. The problem isn't pagtatapakan, since it can't be
avoided. My classmates were saying that if you confront the people
teasing you, they'll stop, or if the people teasing would tell the
people they're teasing what the problem is, the person would try to
change. All I can say is that that's all bullshit. When you confront
someone about being hurt and all, they wont stop. I swear they'll only
laugh at you and treat your statement as a joke, or if it would stop,
it's only a matter of time til they start again. If you tell someone
what the problem is they cant change. They cant change who they are,
their personalities, their hobbies, etcetera. It's already a part of
themselves and to remove it would be like suicide. The way I see it,
the problem is as simple as putting it into a question. Do we really
want this? Do we really want to be united? Do we really want to change?
The way I see it, the problem is that we don't have the desire to
change. Even though we keep saying that we aren't united and that we
need to change, when you think about it, no one has said that they WANT
to change. They always say that they NEED to, or they use words like
KAILANGAN (for example: Alam kong kailangan kong magbago). They say,
"Kaya nga 'di tayo united eh," when they should be actually trying to
fix the problem. I know some of us are trying, always saying that we
need to change, but for the past sessions we had, its obvious that we
are only TALKING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. You may think that talking about
it, and asking people to say sorry to some people is helping, but in
fact its not. Talking about it leaves the problem neutral, in a sense,
and asking people to say sorry is attacking the wrong problem, which
helps the individual disputes only, and not the actual class.
Right now B can't be united. It's just not possible
unless everyone miraculously starts to share the same interests, vices
and all that crap. When everyone starts to love DOTA, NBA Live,
bowling, basketball, ping pong, swimming, tennis, badminton, the WWE,
the OC, Lost, guitars, music, rap, rock, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical
Romance, KFC, McDo, Jolibee, Brother's Burger \m/, drinking, smoking,
drugs, and all that shit, that's when we can be united. I know that's
not going to happen so we have to seek another alternative. Don't
strive to make B united, to make B the "perfect class." Strive to make
B a fun class, where we can all just enjoy.
Unity isn't all that it's held up to be. The harmony
you all seem to want is already there, although it goes unnoticed. It's
just that everyone is nostalgic about first year, and how much better B
seemed to be. Is it really a utopian community that we want? Beauty is
found in imperfection.
What we can be though, is different. We can be more
of "together", than united. We can just learn to enjoy each other's
company, yet sometimes still have the ability to keep away from the
people we dislike. We can't like EVERYBODY. We just can't.
Anyway I think we should all just keep the same way.
YAY! Tomorrow I have something to do again! AC fair! yehey!
but i still havent found my phone. gr.
