Race week prep

Oct 04, 2005 00:04

Well, marathon week is finally upon us. And I have begun my preparations.

First move; diet for the week. Carbs, carbs, carbs. Oh yeah, and fluids too.

Second move; secure a place close to the marathon course to stay the night before. Also accomplished. My best friend Ryan has persuaded his father to let me camp out in one of his guest rooms at a his condo downtown. This saves me the fuss of having to find and pay for a room downtown and gets me right close to the start point of the marathon. I really appreciate the use of a guest room.

Third task; race day supplies. I plan on carrying my fanny pack with at least 8 charbohydrate gel packs. The water bottle will also be fully loaded and I can refill it as need along the course. My parents are planning on meeting me around the halfway mark, so I think that I am going to have them bring a second shirt for me to change into as well as a towel and a reserve stick of bodyglide. I think all that should help me get through the second half of the course.

I'm sure that there is more that I am not thinking of at the moment, but it'll come to me. And if not, it doesn't matter.

On the donation front, I succeeded in making my goal of $750.00 and am hoping to actually crack the $1000.00 mark by the time its all said and done. Donations are always accepted so if you want to give or know someone who does, feel free to follow the links in my user info.

OK, rest is the name of the game this week, so I am off to bed.
