For every step forward I take, I wind up taking 2 back...

After the groin pull fiasco, I rebounded to successfully complete the following long run of 16 miles. However, this past weekend during our 12 mile cut back run, I came up lame again. Everytime I was putting down my left foot, I kept getting a shooting pain up my leg to between my ankle and knee. Now I'm no doctor, but that seems like a shin splint to me. I immediately came home and schedule at visit to the doctor Monday morning. I think it might be time to consider an MRI...

Its hard not to get discouraged with this. I mean, why is this happening to me? Why now? I know better than to push through it and risk possible permanent injury, but I'm getting so angry at this obvious betrayal of my body. Maybe something as simple as a week of minimal activity to rest up might be what the doctor ordered. I really don't know. All I know is that my training can't keep going like this if I want to have a chance of not only finishing the training, but finishing the race as well...
