Had a pretty unremarkable week, not much out of the usual.

We've booked a holiday, as in actually paid a deposit and booked a holiday. This is highly unusual for us, since we usually make plans and never bother going through with them, but no, we decided that if we didn't book it well in advance, we'd never get around to going. We're going for a week all inclusive in Turkey next June. We wanted self catering, but the supplements for only 2 adults are outrageous and Turkey is cheap at the minute, so it'll do. I pulled my face a bit at first, until I remembered that we really need a holiday, we ain't loaded and that the hotel needs to have lots of ice cream and things to do for Ethan. The tiny cottage in Italy will have to wait until we're both working and Ethan is old enough to go for long walks and stuff with us.

Carl's parents have said they are going to buy us a tow bar for christmas, so we can borrow the caravan, so we're thinking of going to Cornwall for 5 days or so too. And we're going for a long weekend in one of the Landmark Trust houses next December with family too. So we should have 3 holidays next year!

I went to the food auction in Bosley last night. It's home made pies and wine, homegrown fruit and veg, eggs and tinned stuff donated by people and then auctioned in a pub for charity. I didn't go last year, but did the year before that. I didn't spend nearly as much this time, 'cause we're skint, but I managed to come back with some nice onions, a pumpkin, a marrow and some beetroot. The challenge is to make something edible out of the pumpkin this year. I made a pumpkin cake last autumn and it tasted like crap, a brick made of stodgy, weird, sweet crap. I think I'll try soup this time, Carl gags at the texture of risotto and I can't see myself eating an entire pan of pumpkin risotto.

I didn't get any elderberry wine this year, as the price went upto about £13! I was a bit upset, but I'm going to make some myself. I'm going to get some fermenting buckets, instead of using the massive bowl I used for the elderflower champagne because I'm making a few different types and they're going to take at least a year to ferment and settle. I've been on some dodgy sites when buying the enzymes and corks I can't get hold of in town, you'd be surprised at how much alcohol you can make at home! Even spirits! I'm just sticking to fruit wines though, heh. I haven't reached the stage of brewing my own vodka- yet.

We're leaving Ethan at the childminders tomorrow for the first time. I'm a little apprehensive. I'm looking forward to getting stuck back into work though. I'm back at the cafe 2 days a week and now I need balance in my life. After dealing with so many morons at work, I need to get my study ass back on. Still, I haven't finished the reading I was given over the summer, but one of my books is seriously the size of a phone book and I haven't had much time to read.

Also, is anyone free to see The Gossip on 4th Nov? I don't want to drag Carl along and besides, he can see a fat woman screeching for free any time.
