Well ... this week is always really busy for me. But this year is even more so ...
Each year I begin my final preparations for the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon which I direct (the local portions anyway) for WGN. It has the added benefit of taking me off the Morning Show for several days leading up to the Telethon which means that I can actually get into a normal sleep pattern. WOOOO HOOOO!
So last night was the kick off party for MDA at the Sears Tower in the Metropolitan Club on the 66th floor. It was rather foggy last night so the views were not very good early on but got better as the night went on. This party is for the sponsors (which WGN is one of) and some of the local families, usually the "child ambassador" as well as many of the fire fighters who raise money all year long for the local MDA chapter. It was a fun night for everyone.
Today I am studying the 3 music acts we are shooting for the National Telethon which we will do live during the telethon.
Friday I will be editing the Memorial piece for the show. Each year we loose about 20 - 30 people locally to one form or another of Muscular Dystrophy and this is a way their families can remember them. They send in their pictures and which form of the disease they died from as well as their age and we show them on the air.
Then after I am done with that it will be time to get myself organized for my activities after the telethon.
Friday will be laundry day so that I can pack for INFERNO!!! YEA!! Each year right after the telethon I race home and get as much sleep as I can so that I can get on the road very early on Tuesday morning and head to Michigan and join the set up team for Inferno. This year
rocketpup will be joining me on the ride up to Douglas.
The added thing this year will be the 40th birthday celebration that myself and 3 other of my leather family who are also turning 40 have put together. We currently have about 120 people coming on Saturday. It is going to be a blast!
That's all for now ... will try and post about the party after it happens on Saturday.
