I was given the advice not to read the last bit till later...after I had finished the book. And let me tell you...I'm sure glad I waited. Talk about a puke fest. Jesus. From this moment on I do not consider that part of the book. The story will forever in my mind end where it did and I never ever saw 19 years later.
Besides, Harry is supposed to become Head Master or something like that. Really. And the names. Heaven help us. That was the worst ever! And really it wasn't much of an Epilogue. All you find out is that those 4 paired off and named their kids a bunch of ridiculous names. Middle names...sure. But to just go and name everyone after someone...a little much!
Sarah, Croshanks I am sure just was at the Burrow. He's mentioned in the beginning and well, Hermione had to do what she had to to and I think her cat was far from her mind.
Onto other issues though....and I'm sure over time more will pop into my head as I continue to digest this novel. First off, go Neville. That was great to give him that role. Continuing on and causing a ruckus at Hogwarts all year and then killing the snake. Good stuff. He deserved a role like that.
Next, I really enjoyed her explanation of everything with Dumbledore at the end. She did a great job tying up most of the questions anyone would have and taking care of loose ends. And everything with Snape...BRAVO! I don't however like that Harry was bitching all the time about Dumbledore not telling him everything. For Godssake! Please. He freaking human. And of all people Hermione should have pointed that out and told him to quit his bellyaching and focus on the task at hand. People make mistakes. Harry has made his fair share and there's no reason why he should have been questioning Dumbledore in his youth. As you grow you gain knowledge and become wiser. And that is just what the old man did.
And Sarah, I agree with you about the timing in the book. I even commented to Chris that the book is half over and they are still no closer to killing the Horcrux than they were in the last freakin book! And then everything happened all at once. That's how it seemed to go. Like a rollercoaster. Everything would be putting along and then BANG. You're going down hill and action is happening and then as quick as it came....it's done. And we're putt putting along again. Maybe that is what she was going for. To show how boring it was for them in the weeks between and then when something happens it just does. I'm also not so sure about all that time that lapsed. All of a sudden we skip from Christmas to, goodness I don't know....May or something. What the hell happened in all that time??? Thumb twiddling and nose picking??
Ok...I'm tired. I'm sure I'll come up with more opinions later. For now....my bed is calling me.
PS.....Lexi....up to making some HP icons for me. I really do need some. I'll find some pics!!
