You make a good point about Venice Beach and Rodeo Drive are superficial, and I totally agree with you. But LA is a fucking huge city. Most parts are nothing like Rodeo and Venice and Manhatten Beach and Sunset Blvd. I'm not the biggest fan of the area, but since I go to college here I've come to enjoy the taco trucks and cheap beer and gorgeous sunsets. You should have called me and I would have shown you the good spots in SoCal.

And last time I checked, NY is pretty superficial too. Gotta love our stumptown.

you're wack. Sunset Boulevard is the best place to score smack (or crack) in all SoCal. Echo Park (wha what?)...gotta give much love for da boys in the hood.

Eagle Rock=straight ghetto, no trippin' holmes

You're absolutely right. I didn't get any chance to explore around Occidental but around Scripps, where I was dropping off Laura, it seemed really nice. It was a quaint area that existed in an entirely different world from Hollywood. I am probably being a little unfair to an entire city of millions based off a short exploration of a few areas that are notorious for being superficial, but I am certain (despite my lack of real LA experience) that I would be more insecure about my whole appearance if I lived in LA, but perhaps that's just one of the few disadvantages of living with good weather. In New York (which has all sorts of superficial issues a lot of which revolve around money rather than muscles ), at least people hide themselves behing many layers of clothing. No one in the Big Apple has to know if I have a six pack or not.

Claremont is a nice little enclave of white suburban wealth completely isolated from the minorities who seem to populate the poorer sections of Los Angeles.
