The holiday season is now over and it's back to normal, so, games night!

Bring a friend, our group needs new faces! Bring chips, bring berries, bring soda, bring cupcakes, bring beer and wine, and gluten free cookies. Doors open at 6, a special early start for the... holiday! Games can start as people show up. When we have 4 people, we can start a game.I would like to start trying to shuffle people into games earlier, rather than clustering in a small area talking loudly. If you show up after 8:15 or so, you may end up waiting a while for the first round of games to end so you can fit into a game. What do you feel like playing? Suggest a game.

Parking Reminder: Park in the marked spaces if you intend to stay past 1am. Park on the side of the street that does not have no parking signs if you do park on the street.

Never grope a cantelope.

I have moved some text under the cut.

We now have chez turtle on facebook, join the group! Megaphone!

If you haven't been to our house before, drop me an e-mail, at gmail, where I am known as voltbang . We will have plenty of friendly geeks to make you feel welcome. See the community description for a few words about who we are and what games night is. If you aren't new, bring a friend, NEW PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS WELCOME! Please take a moment to introduce yourself if you are new, or introduce your guest if you bring a new person. We like new people, say hi. You also don't have to know how to play any of these games, we can and will teach you. PLEASE email for Chelona's wonderful "My Maps" that she created on Google Maps, which will get you to our door. On-line maps may confuse and frustrate you, as they are not up to date with some road changes in our neighborhood. Also, her map will help you with parking. I know, I like to just punch the address into google maps or whatever too, but at least one of the mapping services still hasn't figured out the road changes right near our house, and will steer you into a field.

What Is Games Night:
Games night is for playing games. Board and card games mostly. If you aren't much into games, we usually have one table playing light social games where you can learn the game and fit right in. If you are a hard core games geek we have another table for you. Not knowing anyone present is fine, the whole point is to meet new people. We are friendly goofy game nerds. We can get along with people a lot older or younger than us, we don't bite[1], if you are shy, we can be pretty accommodating.

When:
Friday night, this week. Games start between 7:30 and 8pm, probably closer to 8pm. If you arrive late, that's fine, but don't be disappointed if everyone present is already wrapped up in a game and you don't participate in that aspect of the night. You can always hang out and be social, or play video games. If you arrive early, bring your dinner and eat with us.

Where:
Our townhouse in Ashburn VA. We're in bellmont country club , if you want to find it on a map. E-mail chelona@livejournal.com or voltbang@livejournal.com and let one of us know you need directions. Ask early, better to have the directions and change your mind about coming than be stuck waiting for me to reply to your e-mail too late.

No really, what do you play?

[1]: Unless asked. :)

What are "fluffy" and "crunchy" games?

Fluffy: social, somewhat light hearted, fun, less math, less strategy, cooperative. GREAT for new people or people who don't normally consider themselves "gamers". IE "fluffy bunny" games, like "fluffy bunny pagans" or something. Good examples: Apples to Apples, Uno, Guillotine.

Crunchy: strategic, serious, more math, competitive. For people who are into gaming and want more "kill your neighbor" kinda games. IE "something to crunch your teeth into", meaning substantial. Good examples: Settlers of Catan, Tikal, Risk.
