Sometimes I feel absolutely certain that if not for the miracles of modern medicine, I would never have matured into adulthood. I get sick maybe 3 times a year, always when I move to a new place, and always when the weather starts changing. This most recent bout of sickness actually came as a surprise because I wasn't around anyone who was sick and the weather has been steady (cold) since I got back. After looking at my facebook feed though, it seems like a lot of people happen to be sick around the same time so maybe it isn't just me. Luckily Liam is around to take care of me and make me food and tea....and of course, there's my trusty nyquil.
Speaking of nyquil, medicines should go by weight rather than age, don't you think? I mean, there's a single standard dose for all adults, but there's a HUGE (no pun intended) difference between, say, a 105 lb girl and a 300 lb man. A full dose of nyquil knocks me out like a light for a good 10-12 hours. This is why I usually only take a half dose or 3/4 dose.
We've been watching the olympics these past few weeks (effectively cutting into my evening productivity) and while it has been fun, watching all these athletes also makes me feel really really old. I have not followed the winter Olympics in a while. I mean, the last time I watched figure skating, Michelle Kwan was still a medal contender. Yuna was breathtaking on ice, and I thought Mirai was adorable. Liam really likes short-track, which he thinks is really exciting (almost as exciting as pairs figure skating IMO).
And so, this brings me to a new resolution that I decided on about a week ago, which is to work on my flexibility. One of my goals is to be able to touch my palm to the floor w/o bending my knees. I really need to lose this little bit of pudge I have around my tummy (don't roll your eyes!) and it's too bad I really hate running. Liam suggested, and I think this is a good idea, that since we don't have cable anymore we should go downstairs and work out during food network challenges (since it's not available to watch online) or maybe play badminton at the gym. I still want to take a class at the gym, but maybe after quals.
3 weeks till quals!! ZOMG where did all the time go???
