I have this spider bite on my leg. I noticed yesterday that there was something on my leg, it hurt but it was just a little brown dot and no redness, so I thought nothing of it. Maybe an ingrown hair or something. Fine. Except that today the brown spot is bluish-black and there is a swollen red circle around it that is roughly the size of....hmmm...I don't know, a golf ball maybe? Except, you know, not 3 dimensional ;o)
So I called my mom of course because she's a nurse and I figured she would have some suggestions or at least be able to make an educated guess as to whether or not I am going to die. So she told me to just put hot compresses and neosporin on it for now, but to go to the doctor if a) the red area gets bigger b) I start to see red streaks down my legs c) I start running a fever or feeling achy or d) the area starts to turn black.
Now I'm not sure what I should do. It hasn't gotten any bigger I don't think, not really anyway, and, much like a cloud looks if it's thinking about a tornado, it looks like there's a little red area that dips down out of the circle, but it's not running down my leg. Nothing has turned black, but my leg freaking HURTS and that gets worse by the minute. And I feel achy and have a little bit of a headache, but I'm not sure how much of it is paranoia and how much is legitimate pain.
God, I'm such a hypochondriac.
What sucks is that I don't have a doctor in Austin yet, so if I do wind up needing one, it's off to the Doc-in-a-box for me. Or the ER....mmmm...that all sounds very fun.
You know what sounds funner than that? Anal rape.
