news article, desertion in time of war is punishable by death, according to Military Law.
See, we have the servicemen that we do because joinging the US Military is a great way to get Citizenship, a college education, plus a sign-up bonus all in one. Of course, there's always that small risk that while you're enrolled, oh, hey, we may just go to 'war'...
It's actually a fairly nice deal. I even considered enrolling when I was younger. Then, y'know, 2001 and all that and I said "screw that, I'm not fighting".
