Defended my dissertation successfully yesterday. Went well enough. My two advisers were clearly pleased with both the dissertation and my defense of it. I flubbed some questions, and they asked some dumb questions (again with the Nazis!), but it was a basically positive experience. Certainly got answers to some of my questions about transitioning this to a book -- although not much about the article, or Kant, or the new Taylor book (grrrr.....).
Doesn't feel like a huge transition, which I think is healthy; I've committed myself to an academic life a while ago, and I've already started working on my next project. To me, it felt much more like an acknowledgment of something in the past, rather than anything new. Which, come to think of it, a number of things have felt like recently.... I'll probably pick that up for exploration later.
Oh, and I haven't forgotten commentators on my last post. Been too busy to think much, but I will reply in the next few days/week,
