Congress wants you off MySpace (and Facebook, and Friendster...)
Posted by Mobilize.org
Have you checked your Facebook, MySpace, or Friendster today? I hope you poked everyone you needed to because Congress wants this to be your last visit. They want to ban the use of social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Friendster. Wait…what?
Legislation introduced this week will ban social networking, even sites used for educational and professional opportunities. HR5319 will censor the communication of our generation, the online communities that we have built.
The argument is that people put too much personal information on these websites, and could be victimized. Why can't people simply choose to make less information available, rather than have Congress decide what internet sites we can access? Congress is trying to tell us how to use the technology we built - tell them this our movement, and we’re going to fight for it.
Tell Congress they can’t tell you who you can talk to, how you can talk to them, and what you should say. Take action against HR5319, the bill that restricts online freedom.
