RIP Summer 2008

After about 5 straight days of mid 90 degree heat and high humidity, the season known as Summer passed away suddenly at approximately 6:30pm CST on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. A coldfront moved in quickly and dropped the temperature from 75 at 6AM to 89 in the afternoon to 60 at 10PM. The high on Wednesday was 72. The high today was 63 with scattered showers.

The season's demise had a strong effect on everyone. Mourners have been showing their grief by pulling their boats out of the water, towing their Recreational Vehicles behind their pickup trucks on the interstate, shutting their windows and pulling their sweaters out of storage.

Summer is survived by the other seasons; The quick but beautiful Autumn, the harsh and very long Winter, and the much beloved and longed-for Spring.

In lieu of cards or flowers, donations can be made in the LJ poster's name to the Xcel Energy Foundation for High Heating Bills.
