On Thursday we drove to Mystic, Connecticut, and checked into the hotel. We went to dinner at this place called Abbott’s, it’s a casual seafood outdoors place. It was pretty good, we all basically tried various kinds of seafood.
Friday we went to the Mystic Seaport, which is an outside museum, kind of like Old New Castle, all about maritime history. I thought it was pretty interesting, although the weather was pretty nasty, it drizzled all day. That night we watched Wild Hogs. It was pretty bad. The only thing that saved it was William H. Macy. He is awesome.
Saturday my sister stayed at the hotel so my parents and I could have a nice day at the Seaport. It’s a two-day thing. The weather was beautiful, so we did lots of stuff. One really interesting thing was this little tour I noticed and we went on. It was about social reform in the town, and there were only sic of us on the tour, so they took us inside a house that wasn’t open to the public, and showed us what is thought to be a stop on the Underground Railroad-it was this cupboard that moved back and could squeeze in a few people. Pretty sweet, I thought. We ate at Mystic Pizza that night-like in the movie Mystic Pizza. They have pretty good pizza.
Sunday we went to church and then spent the day wandering around the little town’s main street. There was an art festival going on, and it was beautiful, so it was a good day.
Monday my dad and I went to a submarine museum while my mom and sister went shopping. I toured the first ever nuclear sub. Then we went and joined them. There was a Borders outlet store. They had books for like 4.00. I bought 8. Some of them were marked down to 75% off (meaning they were a dollar each). I almost died from excitement.
Tuesday we returned home and toured Yale on the way. It’s a pretty place, but very noisy because it’s in a city.
