South Korea is pretty fucking awesome. It doesn't feel quite as foreign as I'd like, but that's cuz we're in a regular-sized, kind of ugly city, Daejeon. BUT I am going hiking with Fiona and some people tomorrow, so hopefully some nature will make it feel like I'm in a far off land. Plus when we go to Seoul on Monday, that'll be sure to feel foreign because its such a humongous city.
But overall, Daejeon has average, regular looking buildings, of course with much more neon signs than anything I am used to... but fashion is about the same, they drive on the same side of the road as us, there are pizza huts and 7-11's everywhere, and it isn't really hard to get around in English with a few key Korean words and phrases.
It turns out, though, that ALL OF OUR MEALS ARE FREE. ALL OF THEM. So... free flight, free hotel, free meals. Free everything. We even got wine with dinner tonight.
We've done two masterclasses with Korean conductors, with our director coaching them, we have a concert tomorrow in Daejeon, and a concert on Monday in Seoul, and we leave Tuesday. We're planning on going out Monday in Seoul and hopefully going to the Gangnam district!!!!! (If you haven't seen the video for Gangnam Style, LOOK IT UP NOW. IT IS AWESOME.)
But I gotta go, its 1:10 am and I'm about to go out dancing in Daejeon! Hitting up the nightlife for the second night in a row... not gonna drink tonight though, gotta have a fresh voice for tomorrow's concert!!!
