Faire Security thoughts

Just an observation more than anything else, but here it goes.

Last year at faire for the first time (that I can recall, maybe it happened the previous year) Security started checking pouches.  I understand the need to check weapons and be sure they're peace tied.  But I kind of take it personally when they start checking sporrans.  That's my pocket.  Does security check *everyone's* pockets?  Not likely.  I don't think that's really proper.  Are rennies more likely to bring in contraband into the faire?  I don't believe so.  I had to laugh last season towards the end.  The security person saw the little emergency pill case on my keyring.  "What's in your flask?"  "What flask?" "The flask that I saw in your pouch."  "You mean my pill case?"

That particular security person was a pain in my ass all season long.  But that's another story.  :D

I heard that Sterling's security this year is off duty Sherrif officers.  They won't  be in garb either.  I have mixed feelings about that one.  I think that, were I the owner or in charge of that fact, I'd give them the option of a regular uniform or garb uniform.  I suppose it's going to be a bit like PARF's security force.  I like the fact that the constables (some of them anyway) wear kilts for fling or celtic weekend during faire.  THAT might be the answer.  Hehehehehehe.  Security uniforms:  Utilikilts (or similar) and embroided polo shirt.  That would work.  lol

I'm starting to think about hiding pockets in whatever garb I decide to make from here on out.  Wear in empty pouches that way if we buy cd's or anything, that can go in the pouch.  Of course the flask can go in the pocket as well.  ;)  lol
