She had a big hit with One Million B.C. which resulted in a contract with Twentieth Century-Fox (Moon Over Miami, I Wake Up Screaming, Orchestra Wives, Four Jills and a Jeep). However, she entered into an affair with Darryl F. Zanuck, the head of Fox, that lasted just a few years. Having lost interest, Zanuck cast her in B-pictures only. After four failed marriages and several relationships - the last with Rex Harrison while he was married to Lili Palmer - she committed suicide in 1948. A sad ending for a lovely and talented actress
