Quite literally, in fact.
Last summer, my left achilles tendon started bugging me. It was sore off and on, and a bit stiff. Every time I thought it was getting bad enough to go call the doctor, it got better. Everytime I thought it got better, it started getting worse soon thereafter. Never quite enough to do something about it for a long time, though.
Finally, about two months or so ago I went to the doc and had him take a look. He pointed me at physical therapy. They've been having me do eccentric loading exercises (Wikipedia has a good article if you want to know what that is) as well as some other stuff. It's getting better. (Yay!) I'm now at the point where my ankle is stiff-but-not-sore when I wake up in the morning. I'm looking forward to when it's not stiff anymore either. I also think I'm at the point where I don't fear daily activity and yardwork and such, which is nice. I depend on my body to put up with a lot of abuse on the weekends, and I was beginning to not trust it, which really bugged me.
Today the PT had me jog for him, and took of video of me while doing it. Then we watched it frame-by-frame so I could see my running form which, well, sucks. No wonder I hurt myself. So now we begin re-training my running form in hopes of both being able to start running again, and doing so without injuring myself more.
