Evening success
I think I managed to pull it off....
Got home from work, picked up the kids. Went out to the CSA farm and picked up this week's share. Stopped at the library, checked out a couple books (alas, they didn't have the one Maddy wanted). Stopped at the Sure-save for a few supplemental items, including some pork chops for dinner.
Got home. Maddy helped me prep dinner: parsnips sauteed in butter, swiss chard with bacon (both the parsnips and the chard were hangovers from last week's share, so it was good to get them used) and the pork chops sauteed in olive oil with a bit of salt, pepper, and some thyme from last week's share. (Can you sense a theme here?)
It all came out well, and the wine I picked for myself fit very well with it (I splashed a bit over the pork, too).
Now, bath and bed for the kids. Then I can think about wind-down and dishes and such.
