so we'll just assume that part of getting a degree from new college means that you can pull shit out of your ass because well, no one gives you the full story. today i attempted to move forward from the actual writing the thesis process to preparing to submit and set a bacc date. this is what a i learned, which will hopefully be useful to any of you lucky thesis students out there:
first, as dr. gilchrist advised me, do not submit your work in progress to committee members, nor tell them a bacc date until it is set in stone. re: too many new college students are used to soft, wait i mean what?, deadlines. i really didn't think this was too big of an issue but alas, my first response from my committee regarding when to drop off thesis and discuss bacc date wasn't congratulations, sure let's chat, my office hours are X at Y! it was "hey renee. did your thesis sponsor sign off? you know its not necessary for us to read it until you have the final copy. if this is the case, drop it in my box during business hours. have you set a bacc date? do this after you have your sponsor sign off." yep. thanks truly supporting adviser of my first three years at new college who once already almost destroyed my academic future.
so where are you going to have it? ha. i mean, HA. so in pritzker the class lists and blackout dates are posted on the first bulletin board on the right when you walk in. in chae, they are in the math wing's business office. they go a little something like
pritzker t,w,f after 3:30 and m,r after 5. awesome right? look at all those times because although everyday has ONE class held there, its at 12:30.
chae hahahahahaha. yeah, forget it. like monday after 3:30, tuesday after 1 til 6, wednesday nope, thursday after 12, friday forget it.
hns 108 (the "preferred alternative" according to the office wench, cough b.s.) not monday, not tuesday, but wednesday 12 - 6 if there isn't a division meeting, thursday after 3:30 or friday at 3:30.
so this leaves me, and ultimately will leave you if you're baccing this semester the awesome options of checking out college hall or old caples. i'll let you know how that goes...
also tba, approx cost of printing and binding 3 copies of a 180 page thesis.
so its looking like my bacc will be late afternoon, translation = i'll at least have coffee. thinking coffee and sweet snacks like cookies and muffins and shit i like to bake? taking any food requests now. i know its like naptime o'clock but you can do it!
lastly, if you're going to bacc during "bacc week" you better book it now. pritzker already has a number of people signed up for slots and when i told joel i wanted to bacc there he laughed on me until i mentioned not on bacc week.
