you all are nuts. and im not being funny. seriously, what "shieldofdavid" just said, is possibly the stupidest thing i have ever heard. dec. 25 was set aside to celebrate jesus' birthdate, just like we celebrate our birthdays. and when i celebrate on christmas it doesn't have to do with tradition, peer pressure or any of that, but it does have to do with religion, duh! religion came from jesus being born and then dying, and then coming back to life. honestly, i think everyone in the world knows that jesus wasnt born on dec. 25, no one knows the real date because the calender was so different then than it is now. we just set aside a day to celebrate him. which is what i do. i dont know about you but i give thanks to him for everything he did for me throughout the year and i also tell him happy birthday. :) so, i think you guys need to rethink things before saying that everyone that celebrates christmas is going to burn in there stupid christmas trees. that is possibly one of the stupidest thing i have ever heard.

Sarah lets look historically at the practices which you do on Christmas, where it origanated, they are all INTERMIXED with PAGAN things. Not one thing is originally "christian", except the idea they do what the pagans did and say they do it to celebrate "JESUS"! With the scriptures i post, i left them with the mistranlated names so that you will see this is not our interpretation, but that Jeremiah and others warned us against such pagan practices ( ... )

all very good points, and a good response to the one who didn't know about the origions of x-mas. but what about jeremiah using the word "palm" tree? Could this be a different tree that he's talking about? What is the historical interpretation of this scripture (other than the obvious, that we've just stated)? I don't doubt that you're correct in your application of the scripture, but I think we should be aware of alternate readings.
shalom to you.

Lets think about it, lol. In the area around Yerushalem they hvae palm trees. IN the area around germany and russia they have pine. The point istn the type of tree, in fact many places do not use pine, cause it doesnt grow there. The point was that the practice of setting up trees and using them as idols was around way back when.

Never seen you post on my journal before. Thanks for your encouragement, please dont feel like im bashing you. IF you ever need or want to talk try my email its more effeciant, christdisciple06@gmail.com. Later dayz. Shalom!

good point :) I've been to Yerusalem and they have other trees as well, but still true. I asked the question not because I'm interested in trees, but because, when we apply scripture to today, the response is often that a scripture was referring to something totally different; that we're taking it out of context so to speak. Never the less, this particular scripture and the refutation of christmas is a strong one.
Thanks for the reply! Shalom.
