Ariadne had been to the store that day, to get everything she needed for pasta and the sauce, and a decent bottle of wine. So maybe she kind of wanted to impress him, despite the rather shabby state of her little apartment, and all of that. She got everything laid out in preparation, and sort of obsessively watched the clock for his arrival.
