[Character Name] Beatrice.
[Canon] Umineko no Naku Koro ni.
[Point Taken from Canon] Dawn. Mid Tea Party.

[Age] In the number of years that she's existed as a witch, she's 1,000. If we were to refer to her human "counterpart/form", 19. Though, she only just formed within Rokkenjima a few years ago.
[Gender] Female!
[Sexual Orientation] Heterosexual. Or rather, she was born for one person, and one person alone, supposedly (Battlersexual, if it existed, really). Many things concerning her character are a mystery, however--she has said this herself in canon;

“I was born for Battler-san...”
And also, when they exchanged rings during their marriage;
“I will wait for Battler-san to write a new story, and for his sake, I will play any role he asks of me. Whether it be a ruthless opponent, a cruel witch, a lover, or even a wife...”

It has stated in canon that she does love him, and it is said that she shared a relationship with Kinzo once. Therefore, Beatrice is proven to be strictly heterosexual.

However, despite her relationship with Kinzo, this does not change the fact that a part of her was born to wait for him to fulfill a promise (“See you again! I promise that I’ll come to save you on a white horse!”) and to love him, and possibly be loved by him. There is even a song that is about this very promise that she is to wait for.

On the surface of the blue sea
The nameless island
Is an island that keeps waiting
On the unfulfilled promise
Tomorrow, when this rain stops
We can be tied together
The island keeps waiting
On that unfulfilled promise
Seagulls flew
And composed a beautiful lie
We vowed to each other that we’ll live together
On the golden island
To you, who keeps believing
That tomorrow, when this rain stops
We can be tied together
I give everything of mine
I give everything of mine

[Eye Color] Blue
[Hair Color] Gold

[Background]

[Personality] Cold, temperamental, fickle, cocky, cruel, and stubborn. But at the same time, she's childish, selfish, emotional, and at times, even naive to her own emotions. Beatrice is indeed complex.

At first glance, Beatrice seems nothing but twisted and cruel; using others for her own goals and playing with human's lives as if they were nothing but toys (but, if you can fix a toy once it is broken, wouldn't you have the courage to break it over and over again?). However, part of Beatrice's personality is the fact that she can be indeed deceiving. Beatrice doesn't tend to think before she goes through with what motives she may have, and this can lead to her own downfall.

Though, she is indeed known as a Great Witch. She carries the elegance and dignity that then Golden Witch is known to have to others that may call to her. And in her words, she's 'merciful to those who respect her, and brutal to those who do not'. She tends to act friendly to those who do indeed show respect for her. For example; in Episode 2 when Shannon had helped Beatrice, and vice versa, the two would sit down and have tea as if they had been friends for a long time. Though this later appeared as though she had only been using Shannon for her own goals, she had given Shannon presents, and had even openly spoken to Shannon about herself.

Though, she is a witch. She won't hesitate to play tricks or pranks on others, if only for entertainment purposes.

However, chances are that she will not make herself known, or show herself to others without wanting something in return. Whether it's something to aid her, or something that will amuse her later on.

However, if there is one thing she does tend to show annoyance towards, it's to others that completely deny her or ignore her very existence. And again, she tends to show agitation towards those who do not show respect towards her. She is after all, alchemist of the Ushiromiya Family and the one who currently holds the title of Endless Witch. Beato is definitely not a force to be reckoned with. Again, she can be cruel. She won't hesitate to act against someone who challenges her. - Even if it is said later on that she does not enjoy killing or torturing others, reviving someone after death isn't a challenge for her.

That is another part of her personality. She can lie without any problem. Though it has been proven in Episode 5 that she did not enjoy killing others over and over again, she had repeated many times before then that she had no problem with torturing others, because it was enjoyable.

She might act as a dignified witch in front of some, but to people like her Teacher, they see a much different side of her. For example, when Battler refuses to speak with her, or face her in their game, Virgilia sees her visibly showing her frustrations in an manner that very few would see. She shows a side that is completely different from the dignified and elegant witch that human's tend to see ('rolling their head around a table in frustration', or asking her Teacher what she should do to make Battler accept her once more).

She can also be quite slow. Even if it has not been proven if she is actually the murderer in each arc - the ways the murders were carried out were extremely brutal. Whether it was tearing the victims faces off, or taking out others organs and filling their stomachs with candies - she appears to be without mercy at first. When Battler finally confronts her about this, she acts as if a child is being punished; not knowing how to react, and having trouble realizing why he could be so angry. As said earlier, if a toy can be fixed after being broken, wouldn't a child want to break it over and over again? The same could be said with human lives. Aren't things fine, as long as they can be revived again?

However, every murder had been on a whim, if only to show that it was definitely a witch that could have committed the crimes.

Despite having the reputation of being cruel to others - there are times when she can be selfless to those that she considers close (as rare as those moments seem to be). However, she is not often vocal about her own goals, and this again, can lead to others misunderstanding her own motives.

Despite being known as a great witch, it's obvious she has several flaws to her personality. She tends to be emotional in a negative way - visibly growing angry or frustrated when something doesn't go her way. As said before, her goals are more then often misinterpreted, and her plans backfire against her.

Though, it's obvious that there is times when she shows affection for the one's she considers precious, or close to her. For example, she had helped Maria's stuffed animal gain an actual, living body. She does tend to playfully tease and joke around with those she considers friends as well.

Despite the fact that she can lie quite easily, there are times when her emotions are easy to read. Though he is her opponent, it's obvious that she has fondness for Battler. She is often seen asking Ronove how he might be doing, or asking how to cheer him up, if she's told that he's upset. It's through those scenes that we see a much more silly side of her personality. There's even a scene where Battler refers to Beatrice as a 'tsundere.’

Keep in mind though, she is stubborn when it comes to her own pride. She won't admit or show any sign of weakness easily. Rather, even if something is painful for her, she won't admit to it.

At this point in canon, Beatrice has finally reached the happiness that she has longed for during the course of her lifetime. Therefore, she has no reason to act as a cruel witch. Though, being devious and playful is part of her personality, she is much more human than other witches, such as Berkastel and Lambdadelta. Beatrice shows a certain amount of respect (although, she is one to want to be respected, as well) for even those who she battles against in the course of the series. She won’t hesitate to make fun or insult others--but she is far more good-willed than other witches in the Umineko series. Proof of this was shown at the end of Episode 6, when she had been revived, she had fought against Erika. She still showed a good deal of respect for her, despite the circumstances. She could have very well died once again.

Beatrice is a witch that would rather have fun, and play around all the time; playing pranks, rather than have responsibilities. First and foremost, her energetic, high-spirited, childish, proud, charismatic character is who she is, rather than a cruel, heartless monster.

There is also a more ‘sweet’ side that she only shows in front of Battler. A side that is far softer than what anyone else gets to see. This is probably the most significant change in her character from Episde 1, and now to Episode 6.
