Writer's Block: Sundays, Conversations, Surprises, and Prizes

Here are a few Writer's Block questions that I missed.

What's your favorite thing to do on a lazy Sunday?

It really depends on the weather. If it's raining, I like to sleep in. I love working on hobby projects like writing, reading, taking pictures, etc. It's also a good time to try new recipes or bake cookies or other treat. If it's sunny, like to have impromptu picnics-even if they are just in my yard. I also like to walk around the various parks. Close-to-home road trips to explore locales of interest is something I love to do, but don't do it that often.

At least once a month, I meet friends for brunch and sometimes plan spontaneous things to do.

Are there any subjects you either embrace or totally avoid talking about when you meet someone new?

Avoid: Heavy political topics, extremely personal questions about anything, and things of that nature.
Embrace: Conversations about books, movies, travel, photography, getting-to-know-you questions.

Do you prefer telling people what gifts you want to receive or being surprised?

I would never tell people what I want unless they ask specifically ask me. While I prefer to receive things that I want or need, surprises are always nice. I'm just appreciative when my family and friends take the time to get me gifts-whatever they may be.

Last year my parents totally surprised me with a birthday trip to Orlando, Florida to see Disney World and the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. I was shocked because I didn't think they were paying too much attention to my random conversations about Harry Potter and WWHP. They are definitely not fans. Most of the time, my parents usually ask me what I want or I go shopping with my mom and she has me pick things out. Last month they got me a bunch of new books for my Kindle (I chose them), a surprise trip to Las Vegas that includes airfare, hotel, meals, and excursions (we're going this weekend), and new handbag (my mom is very familiar with my handbag tastes; she picked it out and I love what she chose).

Do you prefer to live in a region with a temperate climate or four seasons, and why?

Temperate climate. That is one of the main reasons why I choose to live in the San Francisco Bay Area. While it does get colder or warmer depending on the season, we don't usually have extreme weather. We do experience the four seasons, but on a more mild scale compared to areas known for their seasons (New England autumn foliage, etc.).

If you unexpectedly won a $10,000, how would you spend it?

Well, I'm planning my vacations for 2011 and that prize would definitely go towards the trips. Vacation cards need to be submitted by the end of January, so I still have a few more weeks. I'm thinking about another cruise, possibly Scandinavia or the Holy Land.
