Here are a few
Writer's Block questions that I missed.
April 23, 2010If you could hang out with any fictional character for a whole day, who would you choose, and why?
Harry Potter or Hermione Granger. I think I'd have a lot in common with both and I'd love the chance to explore Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and other wizarding locations. The HP series is also one of my favorites and it would be great to spend time with my favorite characters as well. I should include Draco as well because I'd love to visit Malfoy Manor.
April 6, 2010What is your earliest vivid memory? Why do you think this memory stands out so much in your mind?
I was about two years old. My parents had taken me on vacation to Guam and I was at my maternal grandparents' home. I distinctly remember my mom and I posing for a picture by the living room sliding door. It was an exceptionally warm day and I could feel the sun's rays burning my back. I turned to look at my mom and I remember the heat specifically on my nose. My mom was kneeling beside me wearing perfume I didn't like and a striped dress. She was smiling and I was making a goofy face at the camera when the picture was taken.
I think I remember this moment specifically because of the heat and light. I felt enveloped by the heat, but it wasn't unpleasant. I quite enjoyed the warmth on my face and particularly my nose. Although the picture does trigger the memory, it was just one passing second. I vividly remember the scene.
April 3, 2010Do certain items of clothing remind you of people or events from your past? If so, what garment reminds you of a particularly happy memory?
My mom used to love dressing me up in dresses and I loathed them because they made uncomfortable play clothes. She never quite accepted that I would never be the girly girl who liked dresses, so I usually got one for birthdays and other gift giving events.
In fifth grade, I had this sky blue dress with white flowers on it. My mom somehow convinced me to wear it to school. During recess, I was upset that I couldn't play soccer and tetherball properly in my dress. I had a habit of wearing shorts under my dresses, so I tucked my blue dress into my crimson shorts. The colors clashed and it made my middle very puffy, but I didn't care because it freed up my legs to run.
I eventually outgrew that dress and gave it away. However, it had a separate sash thing that tied at the waist. The dress could be worn without the sash, so I kept the sash as a souvenir. I still have it. It reminds me of happy childhood times at play.
