• Yesterday's barbecue luncheon to celebrate Easter went well despite the torrential rain. The backyard deck at my parents' house has a partial roof and there was more than enough space for my dad to grill and converse with guests while being protected from the elements. I don't know what it is about the grill, but people just like to converge around it and my dad kept giving out samples to hungry guests.
Menu: grilled vegetables, chicken, steak; potatoes (mashed and baked), ham from Honey Bake, pasta, fruit platter, cookies (sugar and chocolate chip with extra toffee chips), and ice cream.
Unfortunately, the egg hunt I had planned had to be moved indoors. Everyone still had a fun time looking for the treats though. My godmother found the golden egg grand prize which was a Starbucks gift card. It was perfect for her because she always stops there in the mornings on her way to work.
I barely got any sleep since I was up late preparing for the party and I had to be up early to be at the 8a mass. Church was beautifully decorated, but a little messy after the previous night's vigil mass. There were candle wax drippings everywhere and that stuff is hard to remove from carpet and flooring. I've often suggested that they have some kind of cup or shield for each individual candle. Everyone receives a candle at the mass and they light their candle from the big Easter candle-it's part of the ritual.
• Last Tuesday was the first time I was at a Wingstop. I've had their product at parties and get-togethers, but this was the first time I ever ordered. Though the wing is my favorite part of the chicken, I was never really a fan of saucy offerings like buffalo wings. I was happy to see a good selection of sauces and I like the lemon pepper and garlic parmesan the best.
