Thanksgiving 2009

Nov 26, 2009 23:58

Despite me being sick, the Thanksgiving meal appeared on the table on time and guests raved about the food. I can't take all the credit though since my parents helped me. My overnight guests (friends from uni) have gone to bed after a long and tiring drive here. We'll have a chance to catch up tomorrow.

My cold isn't that severe, thankfully, and I'm feeling better today. No more fog-like cloud in my ear and only a slight ringing sound. I'm definitely not going out shopping on Black Friday. Some of the sales look good, but I'm just exhausted with everything I've had to do and with being sick.

I try to think about what I'm grateful for on a daily basis, and on this Thanksgiving, I will share five of them. I'm grateful for:

• My family, especially my parents who are loving and generous people. I feel truly blessed to have them in my life and I don't say that often enough. I'm truly grateful.
• My home. This year alone, people I know (who have good incomes) lose their homes due to poor financial choices.
• My health. Yes, I'm sick right now, but thankfully it has been a relatively quiet year for illnesses for me and my family. I could always improve my health though by making better choices, but that's a New Year resolution.
• My memories filled with moments of joy, laughter, and spending time with the people who matter most to me. This comes up today because we looked at all my albums and scrapbooks from uni days.
You and all of my friends. I'm truly blessed to have you in my life and I appreciate the gift of your friendship.
