Here is the list of all the films I watched in theaters in 2007 and brief thoughts about them. There are 78 titles listed, but some I saw two or more times.
I so want to comment on each movie but I will try to limit them to one or two in their respective months! :)
Jan:I agree with you on Rocky so much. It is pretty telling that Sly Stallone has had to bring back two of his most successful characters just to continue his career, the other being Rambo! This was a bad movie and totally pointless. I was shaking my head most of the time!
Feb:I loved Pan's Labyrinth and was pleasantly surprised by Bridge to Terrabithia! I loathed Hannibal Rising; it did not fit in with the previous films on this character. I know that Thomas Harris was not keen to write this the book this is based on and I think it shows.
March:I have only watched Zodiac and agree with you whole-heartedly! I decided to give Music and Lyrics a miss as I am no fan of Hugh Grant!
April: Shooter I detested and I really disliked Fracture. It did not feel "worthy" of Anthony Hopkins and I agree with you on the Ryan Gosling front!
May: Next was absolutely abysmal! I cannot believe I wasted my time with it. Nicholas Cage needs to sort his movie choices out because he has not made a good film in years! I cannot stand the first two Spiderman movies and this one did nothing to change my mind on the franchise!
June:I never watched any of your June entries but maybe I should give Ocean's 13 a chance. Like you, I loathed the second installment which made me not see 13!
July: Agree with you on Transformers and Fantastic Four. Was pissed off about how bad Live Free or Die Hard was! It did no credit to the franchise and proved to be a waste of space in film history!
August: Oh, I disagree with you! :) I absolutely loved Bourne Ultimatum. I thought it to be an improvement on the second film in the series! Also, I was no fan of Stardust! I liked the acting but thought the plot of the film to be watered down and pretty weak. I got fed up with seeing Claire Dane's face but did love Robert De Niro!
September: I have only seen two of you entries. I loved Eastern Promises and thought Viggo was wonderful in it! I hated The Brave One. I think Jodie Foster has lost it!
October: The Kingdom was awful wasn't it! Oh, and Resident Evil....blah!
The only film I have watched from November and December is I Am Legend and pretty much agree with you that the interactions with the dog were the best thing!
LOL! Sorry for making such a long reply! Notice that I got a bit self conscious about it during the later months haha!!!!
*headdesk* The friend who picked Rocky Balboa for us to watch is a huge Stallone fan. A few days ago, it was his turn to pick the film; it didn't surprise me to find myself sitting in a theater, watching Rambo save the day. Yet again.
I agree with you about Cage. I liked some of his earlier films, but his current choices reek of desperation.
I was surprised by Ocean's 13, and I thought it was entertaining. You might like it.
I like what they did with Julia Styles' character in Bourne, and I do hope to see her in the next installment. Claire Danes was the one of the worst things about Stardust for me. She wasn't convincing, but I still liked the film for the most part.
I'd love to see Viggo win the Oscar for Best Actor for Eastern Promises. I was just upset with the ending, but I understand why it had to be that way. As for Jodie Foster, I don't know what's up with her current role choices. I just saw the trailer for a Foster film with Abigail Breslin, and it looked pretty bad.
*grins* Yes, I do believe the dog stole the show from Will Smith.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me; I really enjoyed reading them! :)
