Ah, a nice weekend. I started out with a good friday night outting to Laserquest with Robert and Carolyn. Brett followed about an hour later. We played only 2 games because it's so expensive for non-members. In between we played air hockey (which I sucked at) and DDR USA (Which I also suck at). Sadly we couldn't hear any of the music on DDR which probably contributed to the suckage. I can't get down digitally if I can't hear the beat. I did so-so at laser tag. Ranked #10 out of 17 the first time. No one is going to win against Robert who used to be on the 1960 team. But every single time I play that game I get blisters on my trigger hand. They haven't healed one iota since friday night. Amanda's immune system went SPLODIE! It's only a matter of time before I contract a flesh-eating virus coupled with an opportunistic case of pnuemonia. I'll have to roll myself to Tampa in a bubble. Yay, that will be sexy.
I called Sara this past thursday, one of my best friends from MA. They are all living in New York and I miss them so freakin' much. I should have gone to see them instead of going to Sarasota over Valentines. Live and Learn ^^... and then get luvs? Stupid diapers.
Saturday was Kamikazecon. Pretty decent. Not as large or as fun as Metrocon, but it was worth the entrance fee. I <3-ed the dealers room. Freakin' huge it was. I picked up a DVD of Blood the Last Vampire, which I had seen part of before and really liked for the animation, even if it was short. I also picked up a pistol for my Lady Une costume. Saw Doug Smith and chatted with him about Metrocon this year while Brett and he yacked it up about drawing. Brett is an excellent artist and just loves to talk to other artists about drawing. Real nice guy. Robert and I had fun in the hentai and Yaoi section. You can actually have fun with Robert in every section because he can have fun everywhere, and he's funny everywhere he is. =P. I wore my "Dead men tell no tales" pirate shirt and got a lot of "what up's" for it. Then this old guy stopped me and told me I needed to buy this tank top he was holding that said "Stop staring at my chest! These aren't the breasts your looking for." I asked him if I needed it in particular for him. He chuckled and looked preeeeeety guilty. I said I understood the point of the sale's pitch, thanked him, and departed.
We also took in a two hour long Iron-Chef challenge. All I gotta say is that doing Iron Chef at a Con before a live audience, is something that only works on paper and the secret ingredient.......eggs. Pretty anti-climatic. The chairmen lady didn't even eat a pepper! We tried to make the best of it. So we all sat there doing Family Guy quotes and getting very hungry. Long story short, Iron chef Kamikazecon-Japan won the challenge.. even though both challenger and Iron chef made rice-filled omlets.
That sounds pretty good about now.
High point of the Con was definitely watching Moon Child with Gackt and Hyde. Long movie and slow in parts, but actually really entertaining. I'd watch it again. Sort of a modernist Japanese version of Interview with the Vampire and the Godfather... with lots of pretty asian guys.
Didn;t get to play DDR because it was always swarmed with far more talented congoers that I didn't want to make a beginner/newbie fool of myself in front of. I'll just have to sneak down to the UC gameroom and play DDR there until I can at least do Light.
Easter was pretty good, but a little chilly. We had a LOUD storm for hours last night and my sleep was disrupted. I r peeved. I got up, dyed my hair (Hair dye is like unto coffee) and found an Easter Basket waiting for me. My mom is so awesome. 24 and I still get chocolate eggs ^^. Then she started saying "Won't it be nice when we have grand children and we can have Easter egg hunts and draw maps for them and everything!" "yeah, get cracking, Mandy" my dad says. Show me an honest/pretty man, and we'll talk ^^; I sent out "Happy Easter" text messages and then our guests came, Anti-social Aaron and Chris and Doug, friends of the family. They are moving to New York next week so it was the last we will see them for a long time. Doug said he would call a friend and see what is going on in Tampa for the publishing business for job opportunity. Publishing, wouldn't it be loverly?
Coming up this week in Amanda's world
Start of the Summer Abs class.. I be too skinny now for the Bikini. And as much as I would love to load on the fat (because it tastes good... admit it!) I'm gonna do the smart thing for once and put on Muscle. 125 lbs, here I come!!!
DDR... I sneak down like the Ninja.. step step step.. disappear into the shadows.
Test II - E-commerce. 97 on the first one... no problem with the next.
Houston Japanese festival... finally something Japanese AND free.... a rare combination.
Btw.. bittorent downloading at UH, doesn't happen. Told you so, Robert. Bleach will have to wait. Not sure if I like it yet anyway.
Someday, when I am free and unencumbered, I can get all the Free Anime I can stomach.
Until then, I'm at Cartoon Network's mercy =/
