[Ron's voice sounds a bit slurred and strained... maybe a bit concussed? Who knows?]

Shouldn'... shouldn' try escapin' through a window.

'preciate if someone could throw a blanket over me. Bit cold. Been out here for... a while.

[A thud sound can be heard as the device finally becomes too heavy for him and he lets it fall to the ground as he passes ( Read more... )

owie, event, watch out for that first step!

[And this is about when the mansion kicks in with her fears, etc]

RON?!

[The heck with that, Mum's on her way! She sounds out of breath, as though she's running all over creation to find you!]

Ron, where are you?

[Still fading in and out, he's managed to prop himself up against the mansion wall, though his head's more swimmy than he'd like.]

Mum?

[Cupping his hands over his mouth, he calls out:]

Mum, I'm over here! Under my window!

[Oh Merlin, Merlin, Merlin.. her son, her youngest son. Mummy's not happy AT ALL and she's crying rather a lot by the time she reaches Ron. Of course, her first act is to fall to her knees next to him and try to pull him into her arms. YOU'RE OKAY, RIGHT? GOOD 'CAUSE I'M GOING TO HUG YOU TIL YOUR RIBS CRACK.]

Ron!

What happened?

[While he's relieved to see his mum, he's less relieved by the fact that her hugging him is causing OW LOTS OF PAIN to his already bruised body, causing him to grind his teeth.]

Fell. From the window. Saw somethin'....

[She doesn't notice for a moment and then abruptly lets him go to pull out her wand and get to work doing what she can. She's no Healer, but she does know enough to get most of it fixed... hopefully. She's a bit rusty and frazzled emotions never help, but it's the thought that counts, right?]

Ron... My Ron. Please tell me you're all right.

[Absently touching his fingers to a bump at the crown of his head, he's mostly oblivious to his mother's worried spellcasting, but suddenly widens his eyes and looks at her, whispering:]

It was a Grim! By my door!

... at least, I think it was.

A Grim? [She looks him over extra worriedly now, as though she thinks he's going to expire in her arms.] Come now, Ron. You probably just saw Sirius. [She does NOT sound convinced, though.]

[He shakes his head, though he looks as though he's trying not to let that thought cross his mind.]

I saw it before I talked to Sirius! And Ruby said she killed it. Didja know you could kill a Grim?

...Can you? [She looks a bit surprised at that.]

Come on, Ron. We should get inside before something else attacks. Can you walk? [If not, Mum and a little magic will carry you!]

[Ron nods at that, then tries to force himself up. He's quite a bit wobbly, mostly leaning on the wall for support.]

Mum... I'm not gonna die because I saw the Grim, am I? Even after Ruby killed it?

[And Mum's arms because like hell is she going to let her son struggle all the way up without her support!]

No, of course not, Ron! There will be no death in my family. This'll all blow over in a day or two and until then, I'm keeping you firmly under my eye.

Come, now. Just a little further.

[Much as he doesn't want to, fine. He'll hold onto her. He'll play her little game as though he has much of a choice.]

It was big. Reckon I'll be able to tell loads of stories if I make it through the night.

You are going to make it through the night, Ronald Weasley; don't talk like that.

[She huffs out a breath as they turn into the entrance.]

Just don't mention it to Fred or George when we get home. I'd hate to think of what they'd make with that sort of story.

[He moans at the mention of his brothers.]

Right. 'Cos they'd be so understanding about it.

[Under his breath, he mumbles:

Wish they'd been the ones whisked off to some looney bin of a mansion.
