[The sound of buttons being randomly pressed precede a young boy's voice as he struggles with his newfound communicator.]

-must be one of those felly-tones Dad told me about. Stupid piece of Muggle technology! How is anyone supposed to remember the code to get it to work?

Ugh, useless.

[A soft thud can be heard as he tosses it onto the grass and ( Read more... )

Did you just arrive here? I don't know how helpful I might be... but, this is a completely different world from where you were.

What's a Muggle?

[A short, surprised cry is heard as Ron tries to figure out where the voice is coming from.]

What? Who said that?

[He seems to figure out that his discarded device has been turned on, and he begins to speak very loudly and distinctly into it.]

Er. What. Do. You. Mean. By. Different. Exactly?

You can reply normally, there's no need to talk like that.

Different, another dimension, another reality, a different and unique world. This is not the world you grew up in.

[After a short, sheepish laugh, he remarks:]

Oh, er, sorry. I'm sort of new at this.

So... you mean someone Apparated me out of the UK? Or out of Europe? I'm not sure I follow....

It's hard to explain, and I don't know the full details. Basically... somehow, you have managed to find yourself here. We all have been taken from where we should be and placed here.

I... ah... well, what exactly is it that all of you do here? And where is here?

I don't know exactly. I suppose most of us just carry on with life. I've only been here a few days, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can. As for the name, I was told it's called Wonderland.

Oh, so I suppose it's like being first years in a new school. Only... more confusing, if possible.

Wonderland? Well, that doesn't sound so bad!

I suppose that's one way to look at it.

Well, it dosn't sound bad, but that dosn't usually mean anything. I can't say it's horrible, but... so far it hasn't been exactly pleasant.

Do they make you wake up early or do a lot of chores or something?

kaeru_jyanai May 11 2009, 05:41:59 UTC
Not so much. There's no one here to force such things on you. Instead, well, how to say this.... There are things that happen. Not very pleasant. They effect us and our surroundings.

Wait, so there aren't any teachers or guardians or anything? Kids and adults just... just live here? And they go through bits of unpleasantness? They live life, in other words?

kaeru_jyanai May 11 2009, 06:08:38 UTC
More or less, but instead of normal unpleasantness it's... more dire, and dangerous.

Dangerous how? "Irritating prankster brothers" dangerous, or "three-headed rabid dog" dangerous?

Ghostly apparitions that suck all happiness, joy, and possibly your soul, out of you.

Oh.

... I'd rank that a bit higher than Fluffy, then.
