Chris came home early Monday morning. He will be here until the 14th. We hope that there is some kind of job lined up for him by then, either here or in LA, cuz if not, we are going to be hurting. He is trying to get the California unemployment set up but every time he calls he is told (by recording) to call back later due to high call volume. Apparently, a number of people were laid off or fired at the end of June. Not really a surprise. So for 2 weeks, we all get to enjoy daddy. There is one company here that he will interview with while he is home. The San Diego job can't afford to hire anyone right now and he hasn't heard from Imagi yet. Imagi is in process of becoming a union house so that could be delaying the hiring decisions. The kids are happy but ignorance is bliss. It is a good thing I color my hair because I think the {stress} grey hair is going to take over soon.
In other news, I hurt a toad while mowing the lawn on Sunday. I felt awful. I've never even run over a squirrel. I didn't even notice it until I was coming back down the lawn and saw him trying to move along the fence. I had nailed both of his front legs. I stopped mowing and called a wildlife hot line to get advice. They told me to either try to catch it and take care of it at home or take it to a creek and set it free to die or live on its' own. With 3 little kids, keeping it was not an option. Virginia would have killed it in moments by trying to carry it everywhere and the twins would have ended up stepping on it. Since the kids were sleeping (the only time I have to mow the lawn), I asked the neighbor behind us if he would take it to the creek down the street and set it free. He said he would. I'm sure it probably died out there but at least at the creek he had a lot of bugs to eat. When I told Chris he said that I should have taken a shovel to it. I CAN'T DO THAT! I'm such a softie.
Chris' 36th birthday is on Thursday. Not sure what we will do except have his family over to grill steaks and brats. He has requested chocolate cupcakes. Other than that, life just plugs on.
Oh, I retook the Doctor Who test using the less tongue in cheek answers and got a 79%.
