Life updates?
Not much new. I became an official employee w benefits last week. The hour commute is draining. I used to feel so invincible when I first started driving. Guess I've finally arrived at that point where speeding and performing dangerous maneuvers are entirely unnecessary. I'd rather get somewhere late than not get there at all.
My job's chill. I thought I wouldn't like a lab job bc it involves minimal walking-around and social interactions, but my co-workers are entertaining, and I actually like what I do. I'm well-suited for it, which requires intensive microscope work and such. I do get a chance here and there to be creative, so that has been keeping me sane.
Been involved w lots of side projects, which include helping ppl find jobs; Project: Overflow (see projectoverflow.org), an org that my cousins, their friends, and I founded to send relief work to typhoon survivors in the Philippines [BTW, using "survivors" rather than "victims" was totally my doing. I'm trying to gradually shift our mission from charity to social justice.]; art projects; etc.
I've also been working out. Signed up for kickboxing in October (?. Can't remember.) Signed up at $10/mth gym, which is pretty legit. They basically just have the equipment and the space. I like it except for the fact that everyone goes there, including some of my relatives, ppl I knew in grade/high school, and random folks from my past. Last week, my cousin and half of her bridal party were there.
I lost 10 lbs from Oct-Nov. I'm really only checking my weight every two months. My goal is not to lose weight, but to feel good. And to avoid diabetes.
If we haven't talked in a while, you should give me a call. I'm looking at you, Alisa.
