a lot to talk about.....
I had to wake up extra early today for volleyball try-outs...I'm not really a volleyball person though..I'm more of a ..soccer, swimming, water polo, basketball, rock climbing chick. but oh well. I thougt I'd try something new. I hope I make the team, but w/e god's will is ..then ok.
Today we watched Rachel's challenge. Have U seen that?? it's so cool. it's about this gurl that was shot and killed at columbine high school in '99, and she was a really great person. Her ethics in life was to help others, like if someone was alon at school she would introduce heraelf and become friends with that person...if someone was sitting alone at lunch she would go over to that person and sit w/ him or her, and she would introduce herself and her friends. After she died her family kept on finding people that said how nice and kind and welcoming rachel was. Her 0parents went looking throught her room after her death and they found an essay that she had wrote the month before her death...it was titled "my ethics in living" in her essay she stated that one kind thing could cause a chain reaction of more kind things....and that U never know what people are going through, and that maybe U just acknowledging someone can change their life forever. A particular kid said that he was planning on commiting suicide ...but then he met Rachel, and she was kind to him, and she didn't care that he was mentally disabled...all she cared about was the great person he was deep indside. Becaiuse of Rachel acknowledging this kid, and saying "hi" to him oin tha halls, this changed his life...he decided that he wouldn't commit suicide because someone had noticed him...Rachel was the reason he decided to live.
throughout rachel's life rachel had mentioned that she knew that she was going to live a short life, but that she would make a big impact on people, and that is exactly what happened. Rachel died at the age of ummm. 16, but her lrgacy still lives. her family has been going from state to state going to schools to tell them about thaire doughter rachel, and chalenging people to take "Rachels' Challenge" which is to : have no prejudices. Be kind to others.... And to pass on her kindness so that other people canpass it on to others..
Rachel believed that a simple act of kindness could go a long way, and she was right. She also believed that U could start a "chain Reaction" of kindness.
Rachel's death was not in vain. So take the challenge...if U see someone at school stiing alone at lunch, introduce yourself..becomefriend's with that person...pass on kindness... Rachel has started a "chain reaction" and U should help carry it on...take the challenge. Rachel's life and death has impacted many people just as it has impacted me. I will carry out my life trying my best to carry-on the "cahin reaction" and I hope U would do the same.
P.S. another thing is that rachel had drawn a picture in a journal that she kept,it showed tears coming out from her eyes...exactly 13 tears (13 studennts were killed at columbine including rachel) then as U go further down the picture the tear drops darken and seem to turn into drops of blood that fall to the ground where a beautiful rose grows. That was her last journal entry before she died.
think about Rachel and her challenge, don't dwell on her death, but instead take the challenge, and make our world a better place. "start a chain reaction"
