We're All Mad Here - And I Have a New Image Host

Nov 02, 2010 14:05

Hopefully, I won't have bandwidth problems with this new image hosting site. I'm using imgur.com for these images, so hopefully they will all show up. Else, it will be back to the drawing board.

If you don't see images after the cut, someone please let me know.

I tried for several hours to get my lots uploaded to Mediafire and finally fell asleep exhausted. However, I got all my lots loaded this morning. Yeah!

Since switching to a new image host, I may as well switch to a new file host - as soon as I find one to switch to. So, expect to download the files from another host in the near future. I don't have the patience for bad service, even if it is free. I end up procrastinating when I have a bunch of lots to share.

I realize that sharing files is not a life-and-death activity, but at the same time, running into problems makes me lose time as well as the enthusiasm for sharing files. When I complete a lot, I want to use it in my game. But, I usually fix it up to upload first. Once all the files, credits, and images are ready to upload, then I return to the lot to make modifications for my own use.

If there turns out to be a problem with the zip, I cannot recreate the lot without a lot of hassle. I don't keep many lots in the houses and lots bin as it would just be more space wasted. I save the zip files to a different hard drive so they can be burned to a CD/DVD later so I can retrieve them at any time. This is why I include images with the zip files. The name of the lot may change in the version I use in my game, but it is easy to locate an old upload with the name and an image. (I try to save images of all my downloads for easy access, so I feel that it should also work in reverse - for people wanting to download my stuff.)

I can't be the only one that downloads files, but doesn't have time to install it in my game. Then later, when I look at the name of the zip/rar, I'm wondering exactly what it is. Using the images, I can decide immediately whether to install posthaste or wait until another time. It also makes removing files I've installed easier. I only wish I'd included the images from all the files I downloaded years ago as I have a bunch of clothes I need to delete from my game.

Anyhow.

On to the lots.

EPs Required for All Lots Below: Base, University, Seasons, Nightlife, OFB, and Bon Voyage

This first lot is a Residential lot.
4050 Loaf of Rye Court

This is the first lot I've made in a very long time that used only Maxis content. But, I figured that it would be good for me now and then to create a cc-free lot. It is a two-story house. It is not furnished but has quite a bit of landscaping. It also has a swimming pool, which is also rare in my residential lots. In my neighborhoods, none of my sims have swimming pools at their home lots because I make them go to community lots to swim. Unless they have a house on the beach. I just think swimming pools take up too much room on a residential lot and I don't want my sims spoiled. I prefer using that space for a garden. At least until my hood is more established and won't require so many of my residents to have a big garden. Then they will buy the produce from the hood's produce shop.

Here are some pictures of the lot.

This next one is a community lot.

Deep in the Mountain Club
I had a view from one of my lots that was driving me crazy. Adding trees to that part of the neighborhood didn't work. I also get tired of putting a lot of trees in my hood and wish I had a lot more neighborhood deco to choose from. When I decided to build something on that lot, I didn't have many choices of which empty lots would fit in that space where the mountain was steep, so I ended up with a smaller lot than what I wanted to make the view more interesting. As a result, this lot is three stories tall and has a basement.

The restrooms are in the basement. First floor has a fireplace, espresso bar, seating areas and a chess table. Basement access is from the front porch. The second floor has a pool table, poker, and juice bar. The third floor has myshuno and darts inside. Axe throwing is available outside on the balcony.

The lot is fully landscaped, but only about 95% decorated and furnished on the inside because of some of the restrictions of some creators about their content included in lots. I had to remove their content and a few of my hacks and mods, so you will need to fill in those blanks. Otherwise, the lot is functional and cozy and has a lot of cc.

For my purposes, I wanted a lot useable by the plantsims in my hood, thus the ugly flourescent lamps in the building. I can completely understand others replacing them with more appealing lighting fixtures. If I had a mod/hack to maxmotive their sunshine need at night, I'd be quite happy.

There is a pond and barbecue area outside to complete the lot.

Another community lot. Shape Up for the Beach

This lot is kind of a health club. there is a large outdoor swimming pool. Treadmills are located on one of the balconies. The restrooms are indoors on the first floor. There are two saunas accessible from the outside. There are a lot of bathrooms. All the restrooms have baths and NO stalls. In addition, there are shower rooms so there should be no excuse for stinky sims. I recommend use of Bathroom Uses You from MATY, but it is not included.

Other activities include a barbecue area and room to have a water balloon fight.

I really love the way this lot looks from the neighborhood view. There is some cc. I wanted to keep the file size small on this, so I'm sure you will want to fill in some areas with your own decor or activities. The towers are really just for show, so don't expect those to have any content. Unless you want to use them, of course. In addition, I'm fairly certain this lot does not include any lighting at all because there were several different types of lights I wanted to use that are all cc, so I chose not to include them with the lot because it is really tedious to have to replace all those lights if I remove them from the lot. So, you get a smaller zip file and I don't lose a lot of time doing something time-consuming and boring while getting this lot ready for use in my own hood.

In case you were wondering, this lot is on an island hood, so of course there are tropical plants and trees.

That is all for today. I'll upload more when I'm ready to tangle with mediafire again. Uploading to mediafire is more annoying than getting the cc and credits text updated for my lots. Hopefully, I will find another host soon.

Enjoy!
