Last night was full of weird dreams, but I can only solidly remember one, and part of another.

Dream 285

A group of people, including myself had gathered at the blueberry shed area for some kind of reality show game. There were two teams. Each team was instructed to build a room for a child using only the materials provided. The materials were various things collected from the garbage dump ranging from toys, beds, clothes, etc. The team with the best looking room would win. The only person I can really remember in the dream was the kid who played young Pete on Nickelodian’s adventures of Pete and Pete. I can’t recall who won the unusual game.

After the games had finished, we walked up the main gravel road to the house. I could clearly see the correct fields of blueberry and Christmas trees. As we had reached the slight incline near the corner field of Douglas firs, the rain started pouring down. We started running down the road, but I felt as if my legs were so fatigued from running, that they just wouldn’t allow me to run some more. It was a struggle in the rain, and I thought that it would take forever to reach the house. I put my head down to look at the road and also to keep the rain from falling in my eyes, and continued trying to run. When I lifted my head just a few moments after that, the dream had pushed us unusually close to the shed. I knew at this moment that I was surely dreaming. We must have reached the house, and went in.

Dream 286

This is a continuation of the previous dream.

My sister and I were sleeping in our bedroom together, my bed against the east wall, hers against the west, and the windows were slightly open. It was dark in the room, but occasionally lit by lightning. A thunderstorm was right on top of the house. The thunder was extremely loud in the dream. With one particularly luminous bolt of lightning, I could see out the window at the old tree outside the room, which had bright green maple leaves all over it. This was surprising to me because in reality, I knew that it was February.

One bolt of lightning hit the ground with a crack! It must have hit in our yard or in the field across the road. It was extremely bright and loud in the dream, very realistic. The wind picked up very strongly. Hannah and I decided to close the windows on the west so the rain wouldn’t come in the room. I fought with the window on the right to close, hitting the crank knob with jabs of strength. They do need to be oiled. The window on the left closed easier. For whatever reason, we put up cookie sheets and cutting boards against the windows, maybe to reinforce them from the wind.

I closed just one of the windows facing the south so we could hear the tornado sirens, if they went off, because the storm was of that potential magnitude.

But, the storm was unsettling. I couldn’t go back to sleep in the dream, so I got up and walked around the house. I saw someone walking outside in our front yard, in the rain, so I opened the west door. It was the guy who played young Pete again. I told him to come in, but he didn’t seem like walking in the rain, with a dog - maybe a bike, was a big deal. I was afraid that he’d get struck by lightning. He said that he was walking back from the blueberry shed and had cut through the field of Douglas Firs out side the house. I still didn’t feel comfortable with him being out there.

Then, Vince Macina, my slightly flamboyant neighbor from my freshman floor came through the door where I was standing and stood on the front patio. He looked exactly as I remembered him, flip flops, mesh blue running shorts, and a grey hoodie. Apparently he was dating the guy who played Pete. He was able to coax him to the patio, out of the rain, and gave him a little peck on the lips.

Now, to my knowledge Vince is not gay, but it really wouldn’t surprise me if he were to be. So, seeing him kiss this actor guy really didn’t phase me.

Vince asked me what I had been up to lately, while still standing on the front patio, storm raging out side. I said that I was getting married, and he said something like, “Girl! Good for you.” It was very Vince appropriate. I turned around, pointing into the house down the hall to my brother’s room. The door was open and the light was on, and my dress was hanging from the closet door. All was as it should be, except the embroidery on the bottom, which was grape bubble yum colored, and was arranged in cartoon like circles. It didn’t seem right to me in the dream, but I still accepted it as a dream detail.

That’s all that I can remember about this dream.
