This one was kind of fun.
So I was this guy. I was married and had two daughters, one around 10 or 11, the other around 4 or so. I had this douchebag of a neighbor who was always coming onto my property and taking things and building onto my property and I literally could not do anything about it. Now, we both lived on neighboring ranches, but he had horses and I didn't. He was just as much of a douche to the horses and then one day I decided that, to get pay back for everything he'd done I would steal the horses. Plus it would help the horses too.
So I got together a few of my buddies and my wife. The neighbor was shipping his horses somewhere for some show or something. We followed in our own horse transport truck and at a truck stop one night we snuck over into the neighbor's truck and got inside. Both trucks were bigger on the inside than they looked on the outside. The horses (there were 6 of them I think) were each in a different restraint/cage/locked chain sort of barrier that was keeping us from getting them out. We each took one, according to our strengths, and got them all out and into our own trucks. There was one that I kind of bonded with. I don't know if she was a Paint horse or just a pinto coloration horse, but she was gorgeous white and brown with a blonde mane and tail. She was really calm and almost motherly, it seemed, in mannerisms and temperament. She also had a healed gash on her side that I was absolutely sure came from her previous owner.
Anyway, we got to another truck stop and took a short break. Somehow I got wind that the cops were coming along with the neighbor and his lawyer, and I was wondering how the hell they knew where we were or that we had even stolen the horses since we had just left not too long ago and it was still night time. Then I found that my older daughter had called them because she didn't like that we were stealing. I took her phone and yelled for a bit, then told her that I was doing what was right for the horses, hadn't she seen how badly he mistreated them? And she felt bad for calling the cops and the neighbor.
The neighbor got there first and we made a deal, if I could continue to evade him for another two days then I could keep the horses, if I couldn't then he would take the horses back. But he wouldn't bring the cops or his lawyer into it because he knew he mistreated the horses and could get in serious trouble. He even offered to clean up my lands every fall with this newfangled leaf-raker that looked like a driving mower. I took him up on the first offer, and my friends and I took off, each riding a horse.
Cut to later, apparently I had eventually given the horses back, but I had some sort of plan to get them back out of his stables, Leverage/Ocean's Eleven style so that he both couldn't pin it on me, and that he'd get in trouble while I wouldn't. I started the plan while he was cleaning up the leaves on my land with his driving leaf-raker.
Then I woke up to my alarm.
