Okay.... I was thinking about my favorite X-Men episodes/graphic novels earlier today. And I realized how much the Ultimate X-Men story-arc "Cry Wolf" has in common with the X-Men: Evolution episode "Cajun Spice". So I thought I'd give a breakdown. This is mostly for my personal reference. But you're totally welcome to tell me I'm insane. I think whoever wrote "Cry Wolf" had seen "Cajun Spice"; as far as I can tell, Cajun Spice came out first.
1. XE -- Rogue, feeling alienated after her apparent murder of Mystique, is kidnapped by Gambit before class.
2. UX -- Rogue, having just caught her boyfriend cheating on her, is kidnapped by Gambit at a carnival.
1. XE -- Rogue wakes up, alone with Gambit, in a boxcar. They fight, but it ends in a draw when she has him dangling out the boxcar door, and he threatens to blow the whole thing up. She does not steal his powers.
2. UX -- Rogue wakes up, alone with Gambit, in an empty room. They fight, she steals his powers* and nearly escapes only to find herself on a floor near the top of the Empire State Building.
* She steals his powers with a kiss, something she does in a later Evolution episode.
1. XE -- Gambit has kidnapped Rogue to use her powers to free his adoptive father from captivity.
2. UX -- Gambit has kidnapped Rogue on the orders of Fenris, the company headed by the creepy-ass Andrea and Andreas Von Strucker.
1. XE -- "Like I want you in my head."
2. UX -- "Like I want a head full of frog."
1. XE -- Rogue accidently touches Gambit and realizes he's using her. In the end, she helps him anyways.
2. UX -- Fenris tries to hold Rogue against her will. Gambit terminates his employment and helps her escape.
1. XE -- The other X-Men show up last minute and help them escape.
2. UX -- The other X-Men show up last minute and help them fight the guards.
1. XE -- Wolverine threatens to kill Gambit, but Rogue stops him and he listens.
2. UX -- Wolverine beats the living shit out of Gambit, despite Rogue's pleas for him to stop. She eventually has to threaten him with a high-powered weapon to get him off.
1. XE -- Rogue, feeling like she has atoned at least in part for the death of her own foster mother returns home with the X-Men.
2. UX -- Rogue, feeling guilty for her treatment of Wolverine, betrayed by her boyfriend, and a bit set-upon by the rest of the X-Men, runs off with Gambit.
