WeekEND? More like Weekcontinuance.

Friday was the official end of the quarter, which means that I have a pile of grading to do. Literally; five inches of paper to grade. I am starting to turn into a crazy person about grammar; now it makes me a little twitchy to write or read anything even vaguely grammatically incorrect. I have a brand-new John Irving novel sitting in the living room right now, and I am terrified that I won't be able to divorce myself from grammar madness long enough to appreciate his stylistic use of language. DAMN YOU, TENTH GRADERS!!! In any case, I managed to get through two classes worth of papers this weekend, and the ones that are left should mostly be pleasant to read; smart cookie I am, I saved the honors classes for last. I've stumbled across a few real gems so far, so I'm hoping to find more among the remaining essays. Work is really tough, but really good; I know I haven't been doing the best I can, but I am rapidly getting a handle on how to do my job right.

Money is stupid and awful. We don't have enough, we don't have any way of getting more right this second, and I feel like everything we want to do is dependent on it. I absolutely hate that the economy is so miserable that someone as amazing, highly-qualified, dynamic, and all-around awesome as Ryan can't land a job in his field. I'm endlessly thankful that I have a job that has supported us so far, but we are within weeks of running out of money, especially now that Ryan's car needs a pretty hefty repair. I just hope that everything - jobs, money, whatever - level out before the holidays so we can actually get around and see everyone we both miss so much.
