Whoo. Last weekend damn near killed me.
Went to a party that I had found out about mid last week and had a blast - it was kind of a naughty Harry Potter / general magic theme. While there I threw back two decently strong margaritas, and suffered nothing more terrible than a tiny headache the next morning.
Tequila being gentle? WTF? Not that I am really complaining mind you.
We (My apt mate and I ) stayed over at a friends house that night so we could attend a SECOND PARTY in the same area the next day. This was more of an all day event with belly dancing and some armored sparring with weapon mock ups, and a potluck dinner at the end. I helped set the thing up, tear it down, and chopped the firewood for the brazier (which is a lot of fun when wielding a double headed axe!).
It was an incredible weekend, and I made some new friends, but when I got home I just about died. Seems I had neglected to drink enough water over the weekend and was rocking a bout of dehydration sickness + exhaustion.
Its mid-week and I am still tired, but mostly better. An old friend from high school is coming up this week to hang out for a bit, and it will be nice to see him and hang out. I have another mini party to go to this weekend, though it shouldn’t knock me out nearly as bad, and after that I will be back to my regular leisure schedule.
In other news,
So, none of the gals who were chomp’n at the bit last week have dropped me a line this week, with the exception of CLG on Sunday to ask if I was back. Weird. Out of them all, there are only really two I’d like to hear back from, and even then I am a little skeptical about the longevity of our association. Course, they might be overwhelmingly awesome and change my mind, but a little cynicism never hurt anybody.
An old female friend from college rang me up today as well to chit chat. This is significant because she NEVER does this. It was nice to talk and give her a bit of advice on a wonky personal situation. Would’a loved to snap her up myself while I was out that way, but alas it was not to be.
And in yet other, other news,
Looks like instead of the Fam coming up to Seattle for X-mas I will be returning to Texas for a few days. Kind of a pain cuz I don’t have vacation days and will be docked a little more than half a week’s pay, but necessary as Grams isn’t in good health. Also need to get my eyes checked, and without healthcare that’s a doozie of a bill too. I should be able to swing it, unless my math is really horrible (then again I was a PSYCH major…)
On the upside, I have my hammock set up the way I want now, and have a ‘better’ one on its way. I hope I will like it, if not, there are a few more options I can look into.
Its funny, most folks look at me a bit strange when I mention I sleep in a hammock. A few female friends have wrinkled their noses at it too. Sleeping too close together is one of the allegations made against the hammock, though with the one I’m getting, I wonder if the space will be enough to avoid that.
I will have to do some live R&D to find out ;-D But seriously, whatever happened to all that talk about “cuddling?” *chuckles* I will probably end up back in a bed eventually, but for now the hammock is kind of fun.
